In this edition of Meet a Kiiper we chatted with James Grady. James is our office vegan and probably the world’s most active gamer. He does crazy things like run for fun.
When did you start working at Kiip?
October 2015. I’ve been with Kiip for a little over a year.
What do you do? (What is that?)
I’m a Backend Engineer. I work on the server side code that drives our rewardable moments platform. I also work on making sure the system is stable and scales as Kiip continues to grow.
What do you love most about working at Kiip?
I love working on a smaller close-knit organization. I like the ability to help shape the future of the company.
What is your favorite project that you’ve worked on – or – what was a benchmark that was reached that you were particularly proud of?
I designed and led the implementation of ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) to extract and analyze existing traffic, logs, and usage. This lets us quickly track down the source of issues when they occur.
When you’re not at Kiip what are you most likely doing?
I’m a big gamer. My favorite game is “Hearthstone”, but I’m currently replaying “Dragon Age: Inquisition”.
What is your favorite Kiip integrated app?
I’d have to say “Piano Tiles 2”. Its so addictive! It’s also awesome to see other people playing it on the Subway.
What’s your favorite movie?
Easy! “Inception”, hands down.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I make exceptional pancakes and waffles. Also, breakfast happens to be my favorite meal of the day.
What is your favorite song right now?
Right now its “Love is You” by Chrisette Michele, but it changes constantly.
